Kitty Stowaways!!

From the Navy Times:
Stowaways on old destroyer, cats find new homes

LAKE CHARLES, La. — When the decommissioned Gearing-class destroyer Orleck departed Orange, Texas, for Lake Charles on May 18, it had four secret stowaways. They managed to remain undetected for the vessel’s two-day trip to Lake Charles.

Once the Orleck docked at its new homeport on the Calcasieu River, Debbie Lynn Hoffpauir and other USS Orleck Naval Museum volunteers discovered the kitten quartet as they inspected the newly arrived ship.

HORRIBLE!

Mama committed an extreme hardship on me. SHE calls it "claw clippies". Here is the evidence. Stupid 'Bastian just SAT there for his, but I fought tooth and nail, as you can see ...

do your homework!!!!

A lady on our cat forum talked about things that interact with prescription medications. Have your Bean check these links. Let's face it, if Beans get sick, who will pour the kibbles??

Here is one that allows you to check your specific meds for interactions

Mama's quoting Diogenes ...

Mama's nutty today. she said "If Diogenes wanted a lantern to search for an honest man, then give me a flashlight that I might search for truth ..." Now I have NO idea who this Diogenes dude was, but we've got a bunch of flash lights around the house. I think she thinks too much. Unlike us kitties who know the value of a good NAP!!

I mean, honestly .. why would you even bother to ponder such a thing? Everyfur knows there are only a few things in life that really matter. Food is pretty high on the list, and good soft spots for napping .. catnip comes to mind (which reminds me, it's time for Mama to dump some on the rug ...

Silly old Sebastian was up half the night watching out the window. So what was there to watch? Surely not the porcupine who was napping in the bird feeder. I mean, GET A GRIP!!!

From the cat basket ...

Today we want to tell you about a neat contest for BIG kitties!!! Go here to read all about it. Vote for the Big Kitty of your choice! Have you been to see your Vet recently? You know, seeing your Vet once a year is like having your Human Bean seeing her doctor every 6 or 7 years! We know these trips are expensive, but there are companies that help. VIP Pet Insurance is one of those. Purr to your Bean about this.

'Bastian and I were really peeved to read about this next bit of news: A British woman who dumped a cat into a trash bin and was caught on CCTV footage (but only after the cat spent 15 hours in the garbage) has now been identified. The RSPCA plans to interview the woman along with the help of the police. —AP Can you IMAGINE that??? How absolutely awful!

We would also like to tell you about CROM (Cat Rescue of Maryland). They do a lot of wonderful things for kitties who don't have their own Beans to take care of them. Stop in and look at their site, and if your Bean could send them a few pieces of green paper, they can buy more kibbles and medicines for the homeless kitties.

Purrs from the pine trees,

Misty and Sebastian,

Visit Your Local Animal Shelter!

This is very beautiful. This is how we kitties and woofies feel when we have rescued a human. I hope you'll read this, and give some kitty or woofie the chance to rescue YOU! You'll never be sorry!!!

I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY...

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering
apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.
She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.

Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe.

I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. Yes, I could save one.
I rescued a human today.

Food!!

I really must tell you about the food I eat now. It's called "Taste of the Wild" and it's so much better for me! Sebastian and I now have fluffier coats, and we feel better too. You can get it here in town at this shop or search for it online here. There is nothing in it but GOOD stuff for kitties and woofies to eat, instead of beaks and feet. With all the recalls lately on pet food, you'll be much safer with this.

Oh MY! I've been remiss. Well, a lot has happened since I last wrote. Grampa has gone to Heaven, and we all miss him, especially Mama. We are trying to get ourselves organized to make our blog more interesting!
